The United States said Saturday that other wealthy economies around the world are increasingly accustomed to US President Trump's policy plan, but Europe and Japan are still worried about the policy shift in Washington.
At the G7 meeting in southern Italy, finance officials wanted to learn more about Trump's plan; they feared that Trump's plan would lead to the re-emergence of trade protectionism and the global banking reform and Climate change and other issues resolved setbacks.
US Treasury Secretary Nouqin said the United States retains the power to implement trade protectionism in situations where trade is not free or unfair.
"We are not trade protectionists, but we reserve the right to apply for trade protectionism in situations where trade is not free or unfair ... we do it for a more balanced trade, and people already know that," Nuqin At the end of the two-day meeting, told reporters.
"As I said, we are now more at ease because they have the opportunity to be with me, to understand the views of the President and to listen to our economic views."
But G7 other officials made it clear that they did not agree.
"The other six countries ... are clearly, some even very directly to the US government's representative, continue to uphold the same international spirit of cooperation is absolutely necessary." French Finance Minister Sapan (Michel Sapin) Told reporters.
