The US stock market rose on Monday, and industrial stocks rose, helping the Dow to reach its highest harvest in more than two months, after the US and China temporarily laid down trade differences between the two sides to ease the likely concern of trade war.
The US Treasury Secretary, Mr u, said at the weekend that the US and China had "postponed" the prospect of trade war and agreed to conduct further consultations to increase US exports to China. News lifted the stock market opened on Monday, and Dow.DJI led the rally.
He said on Sunday that the United States and China agreed to shelve the threat of tariffs. China praised Monday the significant easing of Sino US trade tensions.
"One of the important news on the weekend was that the trade war was avoided, so the market was adjusted to recharge the bets on the negative news of the negotiation," said Bucky Hellwig, senior vice president of BB&T Management, "the company that sees the large proportion of the export business is doing well."
The S & P industrial index rose 1.5%. Boeing (BA.N) rose 3.6%, the largest percentage increase in Dow stocks, and boosted the index. Boeing 1/4's commercial aircraft are sold to the Chinese market.
Russell 2000 small cap index rose 0.7%, the fourth consecutive trading day set a record closing high, although the increase is not as big as large cap stocks.
The Dow Jones industrial index.DJI was up 298.20 points, or 1.21%, to 25013.29; the standard & Poor 500 index.SPX was up 20.04 points, or 0.74%, to 2733.01, and the NASDAQ index.IXIC was up 39.70, or 0.54%, to 7394.04.
General Electric (GE.N) is up 1.9%. The company confirmed on Monday that it will merge the transportation business with Wabtec (WAB.N), a rail equipment manufacturer, which jumped by about 3.5%.
