North Korea responded with a cautious voice on Friday in response to the US president's cancellation of a historic dasm summit scheduled for next month, calling the country's "Trump formula" to resolve the deadlock around its nuclear weapons program.
On Thursday, Trump wrote to North Korean leader Kim Jeong-eun, announcing that he cancelled the scheduled summit in Singapore in June 12th. The summit will be the first meeting between the incumbent US president and North Korean leaders.
"Unfortunately, in view of the great anger and public hostility that you have shown in the recent statement, I don't think this is a long - planned meeting," Trump wrote.
Before Trump announced the decision, North Korea had repeatedly threatened to withdraw from the summit because it believed that American officials had issued a confrontational speech.
The response of the first Foreign Minister Kim Kwan Kwan on Friday was more harmonious and praised Trump's efforts.
"We did not dare to make a bold decision by President Trump to make a few other presidents, and expressed his deep appreciation for his efforts to hold the summit," Jin Guiguan said in a statement issued by Jin Guiguan in the North Korean state media.
