Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau (Justin Trudeau) will host the group of seven (G7) summit this week (8-9 June), and a series of recent initiatives by US President Trump annoyed the remaining six G7 members outside the United States.
This year's meeting may be captured by the Trump plan and the summit of North Korean leader Kim Jeong-eun. The special fund will be tentatively scheduled to be held in Singapore in June 12th, when it is expected to discuss the DPRK's nuclear program.
Trudeau wants this week's G7 summit to focus on economic growth, insisting that he can deal with this challenge, but insiders and analysts say that Trudeau wants to keep the parties in a difficult situation when Trump's trade and diplomatic actions have isolated the United States and have the risk of damaging the importance of G7.
"This G7 Council sees that the United States is isolated in any country, especially its allies," Lemerre (Bruno Le Maire), the French finance minister, told reporters Friday before the G7 financial summit.
Trump's disdain for diplomatic details and his "us first" policy has made the United States and its allies dislike. The alliance between the United States and these countries can be traced back to the cold war between the US and the Soviet Union.
Trump's steel and aluminum tariffs and the withdrawal from the Iranian nuclear agreement have angered other G7 members in Canada and the European Union. In addition, as Washington seeks to improve relations with the DPRK, Japan is also worried about being marginalized in its own backyard.
