An Indonesian central bank official told Reuters on Monday that the central bank stepped in to calm the volatility of the rupee after its weakness reached its lowest level in more than 20 years.
"The Bank of Indonesia is still intervening in the market to ensure that the volatility of the rupee is within control," Nanang Hendarsah, head of the central bank's monetary administration, said in a text message.
Monday's 0455 GMT, rupee dollar IDR= 15245, the lowest since 1998.
