Facebook (FB.O) executives told Reuters they would ban misinformation about polling requests on their websites and verify false reports of violence at polling stations or queues before the mid-term elections next month. This is the latest move by the company to reduce its manipulation of voters on its website.
Facebook is the largest Internet social media in the world, with 1 billion 500 million users per day. The company has not been able to ban all false and misleading posts before, and it avoids doing so because it could increase costs and be charged with censorship.
