Saudi Arabia is ready to admit to interrogating and killing journalist Jamal Khashoggi after US President Trump suspected he might have been killed by a "rogue killer," CNN and the New York Times said Monday.
Trump will send Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to meet King Salman of Saudi Arabia over the incident, which has strained relations between the two countries.
Kasuji is an American resident and a columnist for the Washington Post. He is a critic of Mohammed bin Salman, Saudi Arabia's crown prince. Kasuji disappeared after entering Saudi Arabia's consulate in Istanbul in October 2nd. Turkey officials believe he has been murdered and the body has been removed.
CNN on Monday quoted two unnamed sources as saying Saudi Arabia was preparing a report that would acknowledge the question of Kashuji's interrogation and cause his death. The Saudi government could not immediately be reached for comment on CNN's report.
"I've heard the report, but nobody knows if it's an official report," Trump told reporters.
