SOnsonate, El Salvador / Tapanatepec, Mexico, Oct 28 - A new group of immigrants set off from El Salvador on Sunday to enter Guatemala and head for the United States. In recent weeks, thousands of Central Americans have left their homeland and traveled to the United States in a similar way.

More than 300 Salvatore people left the capital San Salvador on Sunday. Beatriz Marroquin, a health official in Retalhuleu, Guatemala, said six policemen were injured.
Mexico's interior minister, Alfonso Navarrete, told reporters late Sunday that federal police were not armed or even fired plastic bullets.
U.S. President Trump and Republicans plan to make immigration a major issue before the November 6 midterm elections. The Republican Party is facing congressional control.
U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen said on Fox News Sunday that Trump was determined to use all his powers to prevent immigrants from crossing the border illegally.
"There's a crisis at our borders... a repetition of this crisis in this immigrant army, but to be honest, we basically see this kind of battle every day," she said.
"I think what the president wants to make clear is that all possible actions, powers and implementation plans can be discussed and considered for adoption, so that there are clear and legitimate channels to enter the country and no other way exists," Nielsen said.
