U.S. Trade Representative Jean-Claude Lethizer said Sunday that the U.S. trade negotiations with China need to reach a successful conclusion by March 1, otherwise new tariffs will be imposed and that there is a "hard deadline" for the matter.
China's huge trade surplus with the United States, as well as its claim that China is stealing intellectual property rights and technology, has triggered trade conflicts between the two economies, and the global market is disturbed.
"As far as I'm concerned, it's a hard deadline. When I talked to the President of the United States, he wasn't talking about March. Wright Hitzer said on CBS's "Face the Nation" program. He was referring to Trump's recent decision to postpone new tariffs while continuing negotiations.
"... After 90 days, these tariffs will be raised." Wright F Ze said. He was chosen to lead the negotiations and appeared to be lowering expectations of possible extension.
