China's policy document to the European Union released Tuesday by Xinhua News Agency said that China and Europe should deepen dialogue on macroeconomic policies and economic and trade policies, maintain two-way openness, constructively handle differences and frictions, and promote two-way investment; refrain from politicizing economic and trade issues, and promote long-term, stable, mutually beneficial and win-win development of China-EU economic and trade relations.
The document points out that China will expand imports of high-quality goods from Europe. At the same time, it hopes that the EU will relax its export control of high-tech products to China, reduce and eliminate investment barriers and discriminatory barriers, and provide a fair, transparent and predictable policy environment for Chinese enterprises to invest in Europe.
This year marks the 15th anniversary of the establishment of China-EU comprehensive strategic partnership. This is also the third policy document formulated by the Chinese government for the EU, proposing cooperation in trade and investment, interconnection, finance, scientific research and innovation, emerging industries and sustainable development. The two previous EU policy documents were in 2003 and 2014, respectively.
"We hope that the EU will keep the investment market open, reduce and eliminate investment barriers and discriminatory barriers, provide a fair, transparent and predictable policy environment for Chinese enterprises to invest in Europe and protect their legitimate rights and interests." The document states that China is willing to continue to strengthen dialogue and cooperation with the EU at bilateral, regional and global levels, jointly advocate and practice multilateralism, safeguard the international order and system with the United Nations as the core, and work together to meet global challenges.
