U.S. officials said Wednesday that the State Department's special representative for North Korea policy, Steve Biegun, will visit South Korea, and that it is difficult for the two sides to make a breakthrough in ending negotiations on the North Korean nuclear issue.
A diplomatic source told Reuters that Bigen is scheduled to arrive in Seoul, South Korea, on Wednesday afternoon for a four-day visit.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un held a landmark summit with US President Trump in Singapore in June to commit himself to denuclearization, but little progress has been made since then.
The meeting between Mike Pompeo, the US Secretary of State, and Kim Ying-jee, the vice-chairman of the Korean Labor Party Central Committee, was abruptly cancelled in November and has not been rescheduled.
Officials in Seoul said that during Bigan's visit to South Korea, he was expected to explore ways to promote North Korean nuclear negotiations.
