Steven Mnuchin, the US Treasury Secretary, held a series of telephone talks Sunday with the chief executives of major US banks and planned to convene officials to form a working group called the Plunge Protection Team.

"Today, I had an individual telephone conversation with the CEOs of the six major American banks." Nuchin tweeted before the opening of Asian financial markets.
U.S. stock index futures fell on Sunday evening as electronic trading opened for a week shortened by the holiday season. E-Mini S&P 500 Index futures fell about 0.25% in early trading.
