According to the latest monthly statistics of RMB foreign exchange published by the China Foreign Exchange Trading Center (CFETS), the cumulative turnover of RMB against the US dollar in December 2018 was slightly lower than that of last month, while the total turnover of RMB against the US dollar in the whole year of 2018 was 24.57 trillion US dollars, more than 20.06 trillion US dollars in 2017.
Data released by CFETS also showed that RMB forward transactions in December last year amounted to 53.02 billion yuan, an increase of 45.9% over the previous month, of which 34.4% were for three months or less, and RMB option transactions in that month amounted to 557.95 billion yuan, an increase of 30.5% over the previous month, of which 41.9% were for three months or less.
