Sino-US Vice-ministerial Consultations on Economic and Trade Issues were held in Beijing from 7 to 9 January. China's Ministry of Commerce said Thursday that the two sides have actively implemented the important consensus of the two heads of state, conducted extensive, in-depth and detailed exchanges on trade issues and structural issues of common concern, enhanced mutual understanding and laid a foundation for resolving issues of mutual concern.
"Both sides agreed to maintain close contact." According to a press release published on the website of the Ministry of Commerce.
The U.S. Trade Representative Office (USTR) said earlier that the U.S. -China trade talks ended Wednesday, with negotiators focusing on Beijing's commitment to buy "substantial" agricultural, energy and manufacturing products and services from the United States. USTR said in a statement that officials of the two countries discussed "ways to achieve fairness, reciprocity and balance in trade relations", but did not disclose details of the outcome of the three-day negotiations.
