The Washington Post on Thursday quoted two unnamed sources as saying that the White House was preparing to declare a state of emergency so that President Trump could build a wall along the U.S. -Mexico border, possibly using funds from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
NBC News also reported similar reports that the plan would build a 315-mile (500-kilometer) border wall by declaring a state of emergency and using funds from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The funds were originally used as funds for disaster relief and prevention projects in the United States.
Reuters could not immediately confirm the plan on its own. This approach will lead to an escalation of the confrontation between Trump and Congressional Democrats over the funding of the wall, from policy disputes to a test of presidential power, and possibly legal challenges.
