This will be the first time that the Philippines has sent warships to participate in an international naval reading event hosted by China. It is reported that the exercise will be held in Qingdao on April 23.
Philippine Defense Minister Lorenzana and Empidrad visited the Wuhu fleet of the 539 formation of the Chinese Navy on a friendly visit to Manila on the 20th.
"This is the most educational thing," Lorenzana said. They are friendly and we should at least show them our hospitality. We will also send some ships to visit China in the year.
He said dispatching warships would be part of a "confidence-building" between the two countries.

Lorenzana warmly welcomed the visit of the Chinese naval formation to the Philippines and expressed his sincere thanks to the formation for its warm reception. Lorenzana said that bilateral military relations are an important part of bilateral relations. He supported the two navies to continuously strengthen friendly exchanges and practical cooperation, including high-level visits, professional exchanges and ship visits.
