As many as 70 people died in a fire that engulfed several buildings in Bangladesh's capital for centuries, a fire official warned on Thursday that charges could rise as firefighters washed away the rubble.
Lax regulations and poor enforcement in poor areas of Bangladesh are often attributed to fires that have killed hundreds of people in recent years.
The city's worst fire since 2012 broke out Wednesday night in a five-story building and then spread to other places near Chawkbazar, some of which date back more than 300 years to the Mughal period.
