The German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DIHK) said in a commentary in German media on Friday that the British Parliament's vote to postpone the withdrawal would only put the already difficult situation back into time uncertainty.
"Businesses have no idea what preparations they should make," Martin Wansleben, chairman of the Federation of German Industry and Commerce, told a newspaper owned by Funke Mediengruppe.
"In addition to the uncertainty about the progress of the situation, there is also uncertainty about the timing of the event," he said.
British parliamentarians overwhelmingly voted Thursday to support the postponement of the withdrawal, leaving Britain likely to miss the original withdrawal date of March 29. [nL3S2115E3]
According to Vansliben, 70% of German companies operating in the UK are expected to further affect their business in the UK in 2019, while only 20% believe that their business in the UK is advancing well.
