Japan Wind Honda Automobile Co. Ltd. announced the recall of some 2018 XR-V vehicles manufactured from December 17, 2018 to December 24, 2018, totaling 2835 vehicles. Due to the insufficient tightening bolt torque of some right rear wheel hub bearing units during assembly, the bolts may be loosened, resulting in abnormal noise and shaking at the right rear wheel of the vehicle during driving. In extreme cases, the right rear wheel may fall off and there are potential safety hazards. Based on this case analysis, we will recognize the core component of the automobile chassis-hub bearing and talk about it. Role and importance.
The following pictures are all kinds of hub bearing units. From the outline, we classify them into AB two categories: A-bearing inner ring and outer ring have installation flange (installation flange); B-only bearing outer ring has installation flange.
Type A and B hub bearings
We use the common type A to illustrate that the hub bearing unit has been developed to the third generation. The inner ring raceway is directly processed on the axle. The two sets of bearings are integrated into one, and the ABS induction magnetic ring is integrated. It has been widely used in cars, and gradually expanded in trucks. As shown in the following figure, the front bearing is "clamped" between the steering knuckle and the front brake disc; the rear bearing is "clamped" between the rear axle support and the rear brake disc, which is a typical "sandwich layer". It is not easy to connect the high-speed rotating part (tyre, brake disc) with the static body part. The sandwich layer bears the weight of the body when the inner and outer rings rotate relatively at high speed. Under the impact load from wheels, if it is the driving wheel, it is also necessary to transfer the torque. It is a difficult task and plays an important role. Therefore, the material, processing and assembly accuracy requirements are very high. At present, there is a big gap between domestic manufacturers and foreign manufacturers such as NSK, NTN, SKF in product reliability and service life. The most common market failure is the front (back) wheel abnormal sound.
