At the annual Leaders'summit in Central Europe, Li Keqiang's commitment showed a marked shift in China's position, which had previously made similar proposals to the United States. This may suggest that the long-sought openness of European companies has finally become a reality.
At a press conference after the three-hour summit in Brussels, Li Keqiang said that European companies would enjoy equal treatment. He also proposed the establishment of a dispute mechanism to deal with corporate complaints.
Donald Tusk, President of the Summit and President of the European Council, spoke of this breakthrough.
In a joint statement, the two sides said they believed it was their responsibility to set an example for an open global economy based on multilateral rules.
However, China faces a more confident Europe, even if dialogue is the preferred way to solve the problem.
