Hungary's Ministry of Finance said Tuesday that it regards Huawei as a strategic IT partner, ignoring the safety concerns of many Western governments about using Huawei products.
Hungarian Finance Minister Mihaly Varga met with a Huawei executive in Beijing. A statement issued after the meeting quoted Varga as saying that Huawei would help Hungary develop broadband Internet and achieve the goal of providing 90% of households with high-speed network connections by 2025.
After meeting with Li Jian, president of Huawei Europe, Varga pointed out that Huawei employs more than 2,000 people in Hungary and operates the largest logistics center outside China.
