Stephen Moore, who may be nominated as a member of the Federal Reserve, made a high-profile comment on the U.S. economy on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the likelihood of another candidate, Herman Cain, taking office seems to be waning.
Before the Senate hearings confirm the nomination, potential candidates to the Federal Reserve usually keep a low profile, but Cain and Moore behave differently. They are all loyal supporters of Trump's popularization of his policies.
"We can increase the economy by 3% or 4%. Trump hopes to grow by 5% -- which may be a little reluctant, "Moore told Fox Business Television. He is a senior economic commentator at the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank.
Moore has praised Trump's economic policy at least three times this week on conservative radio interviews, echoing Trump's mistaken view that the Fed's interest rate hike last year was a mistake and offering his arguments for Trump's call for a rate cut.
Kane's prospects are not promising. Bloomberg reported that three Republican senators, Romney, Lisa Murkowski and Collie Gardner, said they would vote against Cain's nomination. The Republican Party currently has a 53-seat majority in the 100-seat Senate.
