U.S. President Trump said Thursday in talks with South Korean President Wen Jae-in that he was willing to hold a third summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, but would maintain sanctions against North Korea.
Trump and Wen Zaiyin discussed at the White House the possibility of Wen Zaiyin's recent meeting with Kim Jong-un to promote dialogue on the denuclearization of North Korea and the United States.
"This may happen. A third summit may occur. It's a step-by-step process. It's not a fast process, I never said it would be. It's going to take one step at a time, "Trump said.
When asked whether he was ready to relax sanctions against North Korea, Trump said he and Wen discussed "some humanitarian issues" and the possibility of South Korea providing food aid to North Korea. He did not rule out the possibility of holding a tripartite summit with Kim Jong-un and Wen Zaiyin.
