A senior executive at smartphone maker Samsung Electronics (005930.KS) said the company had postponed its planned Galaxy Fold media campaign for foldable phones in Hong Kong and Shanghai this week, a few days after reviewers of the foldable phones found defects in the prototype.
The executive did not elaborate on the reasons for the delay or the new arrangements.
The mobile phone will be launched in the United States on April 26, but it has not received praise before. Instead, after a day of testing the prototype, science and technology reporters discovered the problems of cracks, bulges and screen flashes.
Samsung said there were "several" reports that the $1,980 mobile phone prototype had damaged its display screen, reviving the haze of the Galaxy Note 7 fire three years ago, when Samsung finally pulled the Note 7 off the shelves and spent a huge amount of money.
The Samsung executive said Monday that the company was reviewing the damage reports, but did not disclose whether the U.S. launch date had changed.
