A UK security source said that China Huawei Technologies Ltd. would be banned from participating in all core parts of the UK 5G network, and there would be restrictions on non-core parts.
The Daily Telegraph reported Tuesday that the UK will allow Huawei limited participation in 5G mobile network construction.
Tom Tugendhat, chairman of the Foreign Affairs Commission, said Wednesday that it was difficult to distinguish between core and non-core parts in view of the way 5G networks were built.
"It's still worrying," he told BBC Radio. "The definition of core and non-core parts of 5G network is very difficult."
"(5G) The network has changed from a faster Internet system to an Internet system that can truly connect everything, so it is much more difficult to distinguish between its non-core and core parts."
