"These negotiations will continue in earnest in the next week," Kudrow told reporters.
Officials from both sides have already communicated by telephone. U.S. President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed to resume the stalled economic and trade talks in May this year when they met in Japan last week.
Kudrow later made a slight change in timing, saying that face-to-face talks would begin "very soon" and that a bulletin would be issued soon.
"I don't know the exact time. They are on the phone. They will call in the coming week and they will arrange face-to-face talks.
The United States led the negotiations by trade representative Lethizer and Treasury Secretary Nuchin.
In May, negotiations broke down and U.S. officials accused China of overturning previous commitments made in a text of the agreement, which U.S. negotiators said was nearing completion.
Washington accused China of stealing intellectual property rights and forced American companies to share their technology with Chinese partners as a condition for doing business in China. The United States has asked China to amend laws related to these and other issues. China denies such practices and is reluctant to make major changes to the law.
