The South Korean government said on Friday that it deeply regrets that some senior Japanese officials accused South Korea of not properly Enforcing Export Controls and that Japan must provide clear evidence for its claims.
Kim Yougen, the first director of the Qingwatai National Security Office, said at a press conference that South Korea had thoroughly implemented the UN sanctions against North Korea and international export control regulations on sensitive materials and strategic technologies.
Japanese media said South Korea would import materials that could be used to make weapons into North Korea, and South Korea has denied these allegations. The escalation of diplomatic disputes between Japan and South Korea over forced labor recruitment in wartime may disrupt the global supply of memory chips.
