Iain Duncan Smith, former head of the Conservative Party, said Thursday that it was impossible to say whether Britain would hold an early election, but the new Prime Minister, Johnson, should be prepared.
Johnson took over as British Prime Minister on Wednesday, promising to lead Britain out of the EU by October 31. The British Parliament has vowed to try to prevent a non-agreed withdrawal from Europe, possibly eventually pulling down the Johnson Cabinet.
When asked by BBC Radio whether it was necessary for the government to announce an early election, Duncan Smith said, "There is no way to say yes or no. I only know that any decent government will prepare for this possibility, but in fact I do not believe that the Conservatives will announce an early election before the 31st."
