U.S. mobile operator Sprint (S.N) announced Tuesday that it will launch a 5G smartphone made by China's One Plus, becoming the second U.S. operator to offer one plus mobile phones after T-Mobile TMUS.N.
Sprint currently offers 5G smartphones from Taiwan HTC (2498.TW) and Samsung Electronics (005930.KS) and LG Display (034220.KS) in Korea. Sprint charges $80 a month for 5G services.
Sprint did not disclose when and how much it will sell.
Sprint's 5G service currently covers Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Houston and Kansas City, and is expected to launch 5G services in Los Angeles, New York, Phoenix and Washington, D.C. in the coming weeks.
Competitors Verizon Communications (VZ.N) and AT&T (T.N) are also laying 5G wireless networks across the United States.
