Asian stock markets followed U.S. stock market gains on Friday, helped by robust export data from China and the stabilization of the renminbi, but new doubts about Sino-U.S. Trade Relations Limited Asian stock gains.
Bloomberg reports that the U.S. government has postponed its decision to allow U.S. companies to resume trading with Huawei.
U.S. stock index futures fell 0.6% in early Asian trading and are now down 0.4%.
The MSCI Mingsheng Asia-Pacific (excluding Japan) index rose 0.2%, but the weekly line was feared to fall 2.3%.
Nikkei index. N225 rose 0.6%, Australian stock market rose 0.2%, and Korean stock market. KOSPI rose 1.1%.
China's stock market rebounded early gains. The Shanghai Composite Index. SSEC and the Shanghai-Shenzhen 300 Index. CSI300 fell 0.4% and 0.6% respectively, while the Hong Kong Hang Seng Index. HSI fell 0.2%.
The S& P 500 index. SPX surged 1.9% on Thursday, the biggest one-day gain in about two months, and the Dow Jones Industrial Index. DJI and Nasdaq Index. IXIC rose well over 1%.
However, Bloomberg's reports have heightened fears that the deterioration of trade relations between the United States and China could put additional pressure on the already fragile global economy, weakening optimism.
"The news about Huawei led to a rise in the yen," said Junichi Ishikawa, senior foreign exchange strategist at IG Securities in Tokyo. "It reminds us that the U.S. -China trade dispute is still a risk, and that risk has not subsided."
The yen rose as much as 0.4% to 105.70 yen against the dollar, driven by concerns over Huawei reports.
U.S. data suggest a strong job market, with unexpected declines in initial jobless claims last week, reassuring some people about the recession and helping U.S. bond yields rise.
