British Prime Minister Johnson believed that the European Union would make concessions at the last minute to reach a withdrawal agreement with him to "save Ireland", the Sun reported Monday.
The Sun reported that the impact on Ireland would be greatest if there was no agreement to withdraw from Europe, and Johnson believed that European leaders would concede on the key issue of the so-called Irish safeguards clause.
The European Union has previously said it is not prepared to renegotiate the withdrawal agreement with former British Prime Minister Teresa May. The agreement includes safeguards.
