The Ministry of Commerce announced on Tuesday that China's actual use of foreign capital (FDI) in July was 54.82 billion yuan, an increase of 8.7% over the same period last year, or 8.07 billion US dollars, an increase of 4.1% over the same period last year, and the actual use of foreign capital continued to grow steadily.
According to a press release published on the official website of the Ministry of Commerce, 24,050 new foreign-invested enterprises were set up in January-July, with the actual amount of foreign capital used amounting to 533.14 billion yuan, an increase of 7.3% and 78.8 billion US dollars, an increase of 3.6% over the same period.
The head of the Foreign Trade Department of the Ministry of Commerce said that the main features of the country's foreign investment absorption in the first seven months included: the steady growth of the actual use of foreign capital, the high-tech manufacturing industry and the high-tech service industry maintained a relatively high growth rate, the general growth in the eastern, central and Western regions, and the free trade pilot areas, and the growth rate of investment in the main sources of investment remained unchanged.
The data show that from January to July, the actual use of foreign capital in manufacturing industry was 154.8 billion yuan, an increase of 2.7% compared with the same period last year; the actual use of foreign capital in service industry was 371.57 billion yuan, an increase of 9.3% compared with the same period last year.
The actual use of foreign capital in high-tech industries increased by 43.1% year-on-year, accounting for 29.3%. The actual use of foreign capital in high-tech manufacturing industry was 59 billion yuan, an increase of 19% compared with the same period last year; the actual use of foreign capital in high-tech service industry was 97.39 billion yuan, an increase of 63.2% compared with the same period last year.
