Shortly after blacklisting Huawei, the Commerce Department initially allowed Huawei to buy some products made in the United States in May, in an effort to minimize the impact on its customers, many of whom are network operators in rural areas of the United States.
The original agreement will expire on August 19. If extended, Huawei will be able to maintain its existing telecommunications network and provide software updates to Huawei's mobile phones.
The situation regarding the license remains uncertain and the decision to extend it may change before Monday's deadline, sources said.
Huawei has not immediately responded to comments. China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not immediately respond to requests for comment sent by fax.
Many Huawei suppliers have asked for special permission to continue supplying to Huawei. Wilbur Ross, the US commerce secretary, told reporters late last month that he had received more than 50 applications and expected more.
Huahua purchased US spare parts in 2018 amounting to $70 billion, of which about $11 billion was for companies such as Qualcomm (QCOM.O), Intel (INTC.O) and Meguiar (MU.O).
