"I don't think there is any inconsistent information," Pompeo told CNBC.
"The threat of allowing China's telecommunications system to access the U.S. or global networks poses a huge risk, a national security risk," he said.
The United States blacklisted Huawei in May this year, accusing the Chinese company of engaging in activities that violate the national security or foreign policy interests of the United States.
The U.S. Department of Commerce said Monday that the U.S. government will extend the moratorium on Huawei to allow the Chinese company to continue to buy parts from U.S. companies to serve existing customers. Meanwhile, the United States blacklisted more than 40 Huawei subsidiaries.
U.S. Commerce Secretary Ross announced the extension, which starts on Thursday. Reuters first reported on the expected decision on Friday. However, President Trump said Sunday that he would not approve the extension.
Trump said over the weekend that it would not be postponed, saying that what was about to happen would be "contrary" to what was reported on Friday. "We are actually open to doing business with them," Trump said Sunday.
