Several local media in Hong Kong reported on Friday that the Hong Kong Airport Authority was granted a temporary injunction by the High Court to extend the airport until a separate hearing or announcement was held. The prohibition prohibits any person from illegally and intentionally interfering with the normal use of the Hong Kong International Airport.
According to Radio Hong Kong, Judge Chan Jiaxin pointed out that no notice of no objection had been issued to any other weekend demonstrations to block the road leading to the airport. He agreed with the AA that there was a need to extend the ban, and so far no objection had been raised to the extension of the ban.
The judge also agreed that the damage caused by the blockage of the airport has an immeasurable impact on the airport and Hong Kong's reputation. The smooth operation of the airport is of vital importance to Hong Kong's commercial interests and international reputation. Therefore, he did not hesitate to extend the ban.
On Wednesday (14), the AA obtained a temporary court injunction and imposed access control on the airport passenger terminal. The temporary injunction expired today and the AA applied for an extension.
In addition, the AA advertised in several local newspapers today that the airport has returned to normal operation after being paralysed by public gatherings on 12 and 13 this month. Recently, however, some netizens have called for blocking traffic to and from the airport on weekends, and the AA strongly opposes such calls and actions aimed at undermining the operation of the airport.
