British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said the UK would soon decide whether to allow its 5G network to use the equipment of China Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. but Chinese companies must abide by local regulations if they want to enter the western market.
Asked on Wednesday when the UK will make a decision on Huawei, Wallace said, "The government will take a position soon, and we will make a decision quickly."
He added: "The Internet is a sensitive issue and we will not allow anything to threaten the UK network, but our technical advice is that we can reduce all security risks in some ways."
"It's not just about technology -- it's about behavior," he told reporters. "Not long ago, Britain and some other countries made public appeals to China because of problems in network activities. If we are going to allow any countries to enter our market, I think we should fully expect them to behave in a disciplined manner.
