Chips and semiconductors are the basis of modern electronic products. Without them, computers, smartphones, televisions and many types of household appliances could not be produced.

The main demand for these products is in China. China accounted for nearly 60% of the world's semiconductor market last year, according to data from the American Integrated Circuit Research Corporation. Data from the Center for Strategic and International Studies in the United States show that only 16% of these products are produced in China.
In fact, China has been able to produce its own chips, the report said. For example, Huawei has its own Kirin and Ascent chips. The second Chinese manufacturer, Ziguang Zhanrui, is also preparing to market 5G chips next year. Millet and Alibaba have also developed in this regard. However, some scholars believe that it is not easy to completely replace foreign chips: "It is still a long process to completely replace foreign products. Semiconductor is a high-tech industry, and it has high requirements in many aspects. First, the localization of equipment. As we all know, the manufacturing process of semiconductor is extremely complex and there are many processes. However, at present, there are few domestic equipments which can be industrialized and applied by enterprises in each process. Because manufacturing these devices requires a lot of technology, it is very difficult to achieve in a short time. At the same time, the semiconductor industry needs a lot of talents. These are all problems that will take a long time and not be solved immediately by investment.
According to the scholar, only by slowly developing and researching, can we realize the possibility of substitution. But if we want to replace foreign products in an all-round way, it should still be a relatively distant thing. However, in some areas, substitutes should gradually emerge, such as some Huawei products.
According to Russian Satellite Network, analysts believe that it will take at least five to 10 years for China to produce chips and semiconductors entirely on its own technology. On the other hand, Western competitors will not be in place, will continue to improve their own technology. Therefore, the competition for the leading position in global chip production in the next decade will be extremely fierce.
