Xinhua News Agency has learned from relevant parties of the State Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Commerce that China supports relevant enterprises to continue to purchase a certain amount of agricultural products such as soybeans, pork and products from the United States in accordance with the principles of marketization and the rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO). The Tariff and Tax Commission of the State Council will continue to levy tariffs on these purchases.
Relevant Chinese authorities said that China has a large market capacity and broad prospects for importing high-quality agricultural products from the United States. They hope that the United States will continue to move in opposite directions with China and create favorable conditions for agricultural cooperation and other fields between the two countries.
Bloomberg earlier quoted unsigned sources as saying that China has granted new tariff exemptions to several domestic state-owned and private enterprises so that they can exempt retaliatory tariffs on imported US soybeans.
