On September 26, Ren Zhengfei, president and founder of Huawei, held a coffee conversation with Jerry Kaplan, a famous computer scientist and expert in artificial intelligence, and Peter Cochrane, academician of the Royal Academy of Engineering in Shenzhen.
Ren Zhengfei said that China should enact a privacy protection law and be very strict. "I just said that sovereign governments can have data, not ordinary people." Ren Zhengfei pointed out that there have also been some cases of reselling privacy in China, such as information about pregnant women, which is incorrect. China should strengthen privacy protection, punish illegal acts severely and make social progress.
"I always support GDP R (General Data Protection Ordinance)." Ren Zhengfei said that in the past two years, China has made gradual progress in privacy protection, hoping that in the future, all of us can live in a safe environment and the people are eager for happiness.
