According to market data released on Wednesday, Huawei's dominant position in China's smartphone market was further strengthened, with shipments growing 66% in the third quarter. Huawei received support from domestic consumers after the US imposed sanctions.
According to canalys, China's smartphone market shrank by 3% in the third quarter compared with the same period last year, with a total shipment of 97.8 million, of which Huawei accounted for 41.5 million, accounting for 42%.
Huawei's market share rose, while major competitors oppo, vivo, Xiaomi (1810. HK) and apple (AAPL. O) declined. The total market share of these manufacturers in the third quarter was 50%, down from 64% in the same period last year.
Nicole Peng, vice president of canalys mobile, told Reuters that Apple's third quarter revenue performance was the weakest in China in five years.
