In this year, China's papermaking output is close to 100 million tons, accounting for 1 / 4 of the world's total, ranking first in the world, while the wastewater discharge of papermaking industry is nearly 4 billion cubic meters, accounting for 1 / 5 of the total discharge of all industrial wastewater in the country, also ranking first.

Weishan Lake area in Shandong Province is the only way to transfer water from the south to the north. As the first academician in China's papermaking industry, Chen Kefu, who teaches in Guangzhou, eventually moved the "laboratory" here, spanning most of China. It was found that chemical mechanical pulping did not produce a lot of sewage in the past, but it was very polluted. In the face of the unexpected conclusion, Chen Kefu's bold idea of "evaporation treatment and reuse" has never been attempted before. After nearly ten years of exploration, Chen Kefu found a mechanical steam recompression equipment, which was only used in the chemical and food industries before.
