Japan's National Institute of infectious diseases announced the successful isolation of a new type of coronavirus from infected people
Japan's National Institute of infectious diseases announced Monday that it had successfully isolated the new coronavirus from infected people. It is expected to contribute to the investigation of the detailed nature of the human virus and the development of drugs and vaccines in the future.
The institute took samples from the throat and other mucous membranes of infected people, infected them with other cells for reproduction, and then isolated the virus. After investigating the sequence of genetic factors, it is confirmed that the sequence is basically the same as that published in China. In the future, it will be used in the development of test methods and antiviral drugs.
The Institute will also distribute virus samples to research institutions at home and abroad in Japan in order to find antiviral strategies as soon as possible.
