Russian military also said: "the incident did not cause casualties and material losses. The Russian military base is in normal operation. " The source of the UAV has not been determined.
Syrian state television reported earlier that two drones launched by anti-government militants had been shot down by the Russian air defense system at the Syrian Air Force Base in Syria.
Russian media said this was not the first time that militants used drones to launch an attack on the khemim air force base. On January 20, Syrian militants sent three small UAVs from the north-east near hemeim air force base. The air defense system inside the base immediately found the raided UAVs and destroyed them all.
Hemeim air force base is one of the main bases of Russian forces in Syria, which aims to assist Syrian forces in fighting against terrorists and anti-government militants. The air force base has been repeatedly targeted by militants. In 2019, about 50 drones and 30 rockets were intercepted and shot down.
