[global network reporter Zhang Xiaoya] changed his tune again. "Russia today" (RT) reported on the 10th that the Pentagon said on the same day that the U.S. military in Iraq suffered "minor brain damage" to 109 people in Iran's retaliatory missile strike last month.
On the same day, the U.S. Defense Department said 109 U.S. soldiers suffered mild traumatic brain injury in a missile attack on a U.S. military base in Iraq last month, but 76 of them have returned to work, rt10 reported. According to the report, the details of the remaining 33 people are unknown.
In a statement, the Pentagon said the numbers would change over time. "We will continue to provide the latest information available."
In the early morning of January 8, Iran launched missiles at two Iraqi military bases with US troops. The U.S. defense ministry later said that Iran launched a total of 16 short-range ballistic missiles, 11 of which hit Assad base and one hit a base near Erbil. The attack did not cause casualties or serious damage to the base. However, The Pentagon has since repeatedly revised its claims about the number of wounded in the US military.
On January 16, the U.S. central command said several U.S. soldiers had concussions after the attack. The US Department of defense confirmed Thursday that 34 US soldiers suffered concussion and traumatic brain injury.
