According to foreign media CNET, foreign astronomers said that 2020 bx12, an Empire State Building sized asteroid that passed by the earth earlier this month, is not alone, it also has a partner.

Recently, according to radar images from Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico, asteroid 2020 bx12 is actually a two star system. In other words, the 2020 bx12 also carries an asteroid about 70 meters (230 feet) in diameter, which orbits the planet like a small satellite.
According to NASA data, the larger of the two asteroids is up to 450 meters (1476 feet) in diameter, which already meets the definition of a potentially dangerous asteroid. However, this does not mean that 2020 bx12 will pose a potential threat to human beings in the short term. In fact, it passed us on February 3, when the closest distance to the earth was about 11 times the distance between the earth and the moon..
Astronomers' calculations do show that 2020 bx12's orbit around the sun will one day bring it closer to the earth than the moon, but so far, NASA's data show that this is unlikely to happen until 2200 years ago, and there seems to be no possibility of any impact.
