There is a shortage of masks in the United States! According to an industry expert working with manufacturers, the current inventory of masks in the United States can only guarantee the consumption of hospitals and other front-line medical staff in the next four weeks, the Washington Post said. Government officials are now considering increasing the purchase of masks from local manufacturers and holding daily talks with more than a dozen manufacturers and 20 distributors of protective equipment sold in the United States. Prestige AMERITECH, the largest manufacturer of medical surgical masks in the United States, produces 600000 masks a day, but still cannot meet the demand. Mike Bowen, the company's executive vice president, said he now receives a large number of inquiries from around the world every day. However, the guarantee of order quantity did not make Bowen happy, but was very dissatisfied with the government. About 15 years ago, he warned that if there was an outbreak, there would be a "shortage of masks". He also urged federal agencies and legislative departments to increase the production of masks in the United States. In his view, it is too late for the government to ask for more production at a critical moment.
