The world's fourth most populous nation, unveiled in August, plans to build a $34 billion "smart and green" new capital on the island of forest Borneo to replace crowded, polluted Jakarta, which is slowly sinking to the bottom of the sea.
According to the head of the Indonesian Investment Council (BKPM), the government is assessing how to make the unnamed new capital a candidate city for the 2032 Olympics. It has submitted a tender from Jakarta and it is not clear whether the new plan will include any incidents here.
Baklim lahadalia, chief executive of BKPM, told Reuters the tentative plan had been submitted to a number of investors.
Two people familiar with the matter told Reuters that senior Indonesian officials and sun Zhengyi jointly supported Softbank's support for the Olympic Plan in Jakarta in late February. People speak anonymously because they have no right to speak to the media.
Widodo, along with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and Abu Dhabi crown prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, this year recruited the founder of Softbank to serve as a consultant and help attract funds.
