Mainland China reported its first case of locally transmitted coronavirus in three days, and 54 new cases of imported cases, as Beijing ordered airlines to slash international flights for fear that passengers might rekindle the outbreak.
In a statement on Friday, the National Health Council said that Thursday's 55 new cases were down from 67 a day earlier, bringing the total number of infections to 81340, as five new deaths increased the number of infections to 3292.
Imported infections, mainly Chinese citizens returning home, are now the biggest concern of the authorities.
